Telecom2008 “Brought to You by Broadband” Panel Explores Benefits of High-Speed Internet at the NAB Show
WASHINGTON DC – What do a stronger economy, job creation and better public safety have in common? Key leaders in the public safety and education community will explore how broadband makes it all possible at the Telecom2008 Conference at the NAB Show in Las Vegas in a panel discussion presented by NextGenWeb.org on Tuesday, April 15 at 3:45 pm.
The session will explore how high-speed Internet access helps deliver critical public safety information, better education, advanced health care, a cleaner environment and a stronger economy to communities throughout the United States. Panelists will showcase how they are helping to improve their communities using broadband technologies.
Tom McDonald, CEO of BeSafe, a company using broadband to deliver on-the-scene data to first responders, will explain how public safety officials are using broadband technology to create highly mobile and efficient first-responder communities that are well-equipped to fight crime and help in disaster situations. BeSafe uses state-of-the-art broadband technology to deliver critical information instantly to first responders via their laptop computers as they approach and while on the scene of an emergency.
Dan Fellini, executive producer of the soon-to-be-released One Economy Public Internet Channel, will discuss broadband’s potential to distribute life-enhancing information to consumers. Through broadband, the PIC uses video and audio to help users understand information in five core areas: economic livelihood, health, education, civic participation and emergency preparedness.
Regina Hopper, Executive Vice President of the United States Telecom Association (USTelecom), will moderate the discussion.
