NextGenWeb recently traveled to Boulder, CO to live stream an event hosted by the Silicon Flatirons Center for Law, Technology and Entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado. The event was titled “The Role of Broadband in Public Safety and Homeland Security Communications” and featured a presentation by Rear Admiral (ret.) James Arden Barnett, Jr., Chief of the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau at the Federal Communications Commission.
Following the presentation, NextGenWeb caught up with Admiral Barnett for an interview. During the interview he discussed an interoperable public safety network powered by broadband, the value of public private partnerships and leveraging the strength of America’s broadband infrastructure and also shares some perspective on the National Broadband Plan.
