More Ways to Connect with Government on Broadband

Two new websites launched yesterday, both of which will improve the way in which key stakeholders and the public can communicate with some of the top agencies governing broadband.

The FCC just launched their new site Reboot.FCC.gov.   The site is just the first step as the FCC overhauls their web presence in efforts to improve the way citizens interact and participate with the agency.  The agency is using the new site as a way for the public to give input on what the agency should be doing both online and offline. This is an important step as the FCC considers many critical broadband issues including broadband deployment, adoption, net neutrality, and more.

NextGenWeb was right there today when Anna Gomez of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced the launch of their new website called Broadband Match during the broadband deployment panel at CES.  The new site is dedicated to facilitating partnerships for broadband grants among applicants for the Recovery Act funds.

Above is our interview with Gomez immediately following the announcement.  Although this is great step in assisting communities in processing grants, as noted by Gomez’s fellow panelists, private investment still plays the primary role in broadband deployment.
