Technology is transforming the way health care is delivered in the 21st century, and this change is evident at Quality Partners of Rhode Island. Our mission is to provide health care professionals with tools, consultation and information to improve the quality of their services, and health IT is one of our most important tools available for improving care.
While some people may still not fully comprehend the effectiveness of e-health programs, electronic medical records and the ability to e-prescribe medications, we realized their advantages long ago and are working with health professionals to make them a reality for our patients.
What does this modernization mean for patients and medical practitioners in everyday, real-life situations? It’s plain to see that the benefits are significant with improved care at more affordable costs. Whether it’s reducing the amount of time to file a prescription, expediting the transfer of medical records and data, or researching and tracking a patient’s health history online, the advantages are numerous. Broadband access helps facilitate many of these programs by increasing timely communication.
We need to continue the move toward more e-health applications and programs, and ensure that the right communications networks and technologies are in place to smooth the progress towards enhanced information exchange. Health IT is improving lives in a way that few could have foreseen but many are anxious to experience.
