In an effort to showcase the role broadband is playing in the national health care debate, NextGenWeb is in Boston today to participate in a pre-conference meant to tease the Center for Connected Health’s annual symposium held each October. While there are many examples throughout the country of facilities utilizing technology to improve care and lower costs, like the Via Christi eICU in Wichita or the Resurrection eICU in Chicago, the Center for Connected Health truly is blazing a trail when it comes to connecting patients to high-quality care utilizing high-speed Internet.
Dr. Joe Kvedar, Associate Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School, and the Center’s Director, is a sought-after voice on how broadband-enabled innovations are closing the shortage gap among intensivists as well as providing more consistent care for patients suffering from chronic illnesses. He has been a great supporter and voice for NextGenWeb over the years, and we hope to catch up with him later today as he discusses the goals for this year’s symposium. Certainly there will be an edge to this year’s gathering as the health care debate intensifies.
So stay tuned for more from the Center’s pre-conference in Boston, and be sure to check out NextGenWeb’s eHealth page to stay current with the latest broadband technologies that are advancing American medicine.
