The Future of Video
Words are an incredible tool, but only a picture is worth a thousand words. Which is why the cutting-edge features associated with expanded broadband networks are so exciting.
Video is what makes the new “Age of Broadband spectacular.
Just look at YouTube. What started as a fun way for friends to share videos has now become the means for world leaders to communicate with each other. Tony Blair, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, claims to be the first world leader to have his own YouTube channel. He used it to congratulate Nicolas Sarkozy on winning the recent French Presidential election. Mr. Blair posted his message in both English and French so citizens of both countries could hear what he had to say.
Yesterday, the House Energy and Commerce Committee heard testimony on the future of video as part of the “Digital Future of the United States hearing series. A wide array of industry experts testified about the benefits of video but also cautioned that without continued investment in broadband, the killer apps of today may not be there tomorrow.
Let’s keep our Internet vibrant and forward-looking by making sure Congress knows that regulating the Internet is a really bad idea. Every picture tells a story; we should make sure that this picture is one of progress, success and individual choice.
