The Young Elected Officials (YEO) Network was created in 2006 by the People for the American Way Foundation in order to help young, progressive local and state elected leaders serve, thrive and advance in their communities. This year was their fourth annual gathering, and NextGenWeb was proud to be a part of it!
Attendees spent time in breakout sessions, caucuses and workshops refining their leadership skills, but at the lunch panel that NGW participated in, it was time to take a look at technology and how it’s affecting issues at the top of our nation’s policy agenda—and how we all communicate. A panel of broadband experts shared innovative ways broadband is being used to address challenging issues, such as health care, education, our environment and the nation’s economic recovery.
NextGenWeb focused on how young leaders can use broadband-enabled social media tools to better communicate with their communities and advance their legislative agendas. Although many have different levels of expertise with these tools, all were very grateful for tips and tricks that we shared.
